Young Sheldon: The (Juicier-Than-Meemaw’s-Brisket) Inside Story of the Hit Comedy, Jessica Radloff’s oral history of the show that spawned Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage, was released today in hardcover, ebook and audiobook.

Radloff, an entertainment journalist, previously wrote The Big Bang Theory: The Definitive, Inside Story of the Epic Hit Series.

Her new book traces Young Sheldon from its development as a Big Bang Theory prequel through its seven-season run and its discovery by a new generation of viewers on Netflix. Radloff interviewed the show’s entire main cast, including Montana Jordan and Emily Osment, along with recurring guest stars and its creators, writers and producers.

The book covers the contentious decision to end Young Sheldon and develop Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage. An excerpt published by The Hollywood Reporter reveals plans for the spin-off took shape after the writers’ strike ended in 2023. However, the continuing actors’ strike prevented the producers from approaching Jordan and Osment until the strike was over and the cast had been told Young Sheldon was ending.

The latest previews include People’s excerpt, in which Montana Jordan and his wife, Jenna, recall learning they were expecting their daughter, and TheWrap’s account of the fallout from Annie Potts’s comments about the decision to end the show.

Jim Parsons, who played Sheldon Cooper on The Big Bang Theory and narrated Young Sheldon, wrote the book’s foreword. The audiobook features Radloff alongside many of her interviewees, including Parsons, Montana Jordan, Lance Barber, Zoe Perry, Annie Potts, Raegan Revord, Matt Hobby and Steve Holland.

To mark the release, Radloff will join Montana Jordan, Lance Barber and executive producer Steve Holland for a Q&A and book signing today at Barnes & Noble at The Americana at Brand in Glendale, California.
