Lance Barber to return as George Sr.

Lance Barber is set to reprise his Young Sheldon role as George Sr., the Cooper family patriarch, in an upcoming episode of Georgie and Mandy’s First Marriage.
The producers of Georgie and Mandy’s First Marriage confirmed Barber’s return during a press panel ahead of the show’s mid-season premiere. An episode title and air date have not been announced.
At the press event, executive producer Steve Holland revealed that George will visit his son in a dream. “Georgie is thinking about his dad, and he’s worried that his dad might be disappointed in him”, explained Holland. He also mentioned the idea came from a conversation with series creator Chuck Lorre, who mentioned he still has dreams where his late father visits him.
On Young Sheldon, George Sr. passed away suddenly in the Season 7 episode “A New Home and a Traditional Texas Torture” following a heart attack. His memorial service was a significant part of the show’s penultimate episode, “Funeral”. The death of Sheldon’s dad during his teenage years had been established on The Big Bang Theory.
Executive producer Steve Molaro shared a picture on Instagram from the editing suite of Georgie and Mandy’s First Marriage, which featured a look at a scene where Georgie is once again sitting with his father at the Coopers’ kitchen table.
Barber joins a growing list of Young Sheldon actors who have reprised their role on Georgie and Mandy’s First Marriage. Annie Potts (Meemaw), Zoe Perry (Mary) and Raegan Revord (Missy) have so far appeared in two episodes each. Craig T. Nelson has appeared in one episode as Meemaw’s boyfriend, Dale.
In the mid-season premiere, “Diet Crap”, Sarah Baker reprised her role as Ms. Hutchins, the school librarian. And in the upcoming February 13 episode, “A House Divided”, Matt Hobby will return as Pastor Jeff.
