    111. Working for the Enemy

    February 20, 2025

After an argument with Jim over stocking Korean tires, Georgie takes a job at a rival tire store, bringing Audrey face-to-face with someone from her past. Meanwhile, Mandy struggles to keep the peace at home.

Quote from Georgie

Georgie: Your dad's being a jerk.
Mandy: Maybe, but we still have to live under his roof. At least until we make some money.
Georgie: Don't worry about money. I'll get another job.
Mandy: You sure about that?
Georgie: Positive. Before you know it, we'll be in a giant house of our own.
Mandy: Right, the one with the pool shaped like a tire.
Georgie: Exactly.
Mandy: Which is just a circle.
Georgie: There's a hot tub in the middle. It'll make sense when you see it.

Quote from Mandy

Jim: You're workin' for Fagenbacher?
Georgie: What can I say? He knows talent when he sees it.
Audrey: Freddy gave you a job?
Mandy: Please don't say "Freddy" and "job" in the same sentence.

Quote from Ruben

Ruben: [whistling a tune] Lincoln's done.
Jim: Great. Get started on the Caddy.
Ruben: Yeah. Before that, how about we talk about my raise?
Jim: What makes you think you're getting a raise?
Ruben: [chuckles] I mean, look around. I'm all you got.
Jim: Really? You're gonna use this whole Georgie situation to squeeze me?
Ruben: I thought that was clear, yes.
Jim: I'll take it under consideration.
Ruben: Don't take too long. I hear Fagenbacher's hiring. [short chuckle] [whistling a tune]
Jim: Quit whistling.
Ruben: No.

Quote from Jim

Audrey: Pretty impressive waiting on all these tables by herself.
Jim: Oh, that's not a surprise, she has six years of college.

Quote from Jim

Georgie: I'm just saying, we could be the first ones selling 'em.
Jim: Georgie, I don't want to hear about Korean tires no more.
Georgie: [sighs] But if we act now, we can corner the market.
Jim: Texans like American tires.
Audrey: Michelin is French.
Jim: But they don't know that.
Georgie: It's a family business. Why don't we take a vote?
Jim: 'Cause it ain't a democracy. I'm the only one who gets a vote. [Audrey clears throat] Me and Audrey are the only ones who get a vote.
Connor: Question.
Jim: You don't get a vote.

Quote from Mandy

Georgie: They're cheaper, they're high quality...
Jim: I don't care. [Georgie sighs]
Mandy: How about that OJ trial. Crazy, right?
Jim: Georgie, I've made my decision.
Georgie: Fine.
Mandy: You know, I really thought that glove was gonna fit.
Connor: But it didn't.

Quote from Georgie

Georgie: If he'd just get out of my way, I could make him money.
Mandy: [scoffs] Be patient, he'll come around.
Georgie: [sighs] I just want to be rich while I'm still young enough to enjoy it.
Mandy: You're not even 20.
Georgie: Fine, while you're still young enough to enjoy it.

Quote from Georgie

Georgie: But when I set a goal, that's all I can think about.
Mandy: Really? That's all you can think about right now?
Georgie: I guess I could think about two things. [kisses Mandy]
Mandy: You know, it turns me on when you're all fired up like this.
Georgie: Well, thank your dad.
Mandy: Georgie.
Georgie: Sorry.

Quote from Audrey

Jim: Kid makes me crazy sometimes.
Audrey: I've never seen you two knock heads like this.
Jim: Yeah, you must be thrilled.
Audrey: I should be. [sighs] I want to be. I'll get there.

Quote from Connor

Connor: Is it me or is it a little tense in here?
Audrey: Connor.
Connor: Oh, we're ignoring it, okay.

Quote from Georgie

Georgie: Take me back? I'm the one who quit.
Jim: Like hell you quit. I fired your ass.
Georgie: You never said "fired."
Jim: You never said "quit."
Georgie: I walked out.
Jim: I showed you the door.
Georgie: I knew where it was!

Quote from Connor

Mandy: Okay, come on, you're family, you know you're gonna have to make up eventually.
Jim: Don't be so sure. I got a sister I ain't talked to in 12 years.
Georgie: Yeah? Well, I got a brother I barely talked to, and I lived with him.
Connor: Why did you stop talking to Aunt Denise? I miss her.

Quote from Mandy

Mandy: Sweetie... you know I love and support you, but what the hell are you doing?
Georgie: Standing up for myself.
Mandy: Well, great, how much does that pay?
Georgie: I can't stay where I'm not wanted.
Mandy: What are you talking about? My mom didn't want you here, and yet here you are.

Quote from Mandy

Mandy: Hey. Hey. Where you been?
Georgie: Getting another job.
Mandy: You got a job already?
Georgie: I did.
Mandy: Aw. That's great. Wait, it's legal, right? Actually, I don't care.

Quote from Connor

Connor: [enters] Morning, all. Oh, boy, tension's back.

Quote from Audrey

Mandy: So you weren't sleeping with him?
Audrey: It doesn't matter. We dated for a while, then I met your father and fell in love.
Mandy: You were doing both of 'em?
Audrey: Not at the same ti... [whispers]: No. Anyway, he and your dad got into a fistfight over me. It was awful. [chuckles]
Mandy: You're smiling again.
Audrey: Oh. It was awful.

Quote from Georgie

Mandy: You quit?
Georgie: I had to. He said nasty things about your mom.
Mandy: So? She says nasty things about you all the time.
Georgie: She's allowed to. We're family.
Mandy: [sighs] Well, my dad's family. Maybe you could apologize to him.
Georgie: And I'm his family. The road goes two ways.
Mandy: God, you are both stubborn idiots.
Georgie: Hey, don't talk about your father that way.

Quote from Audrey

Jim: Sold a bunch of them Korean tires Georgie ordered behind my back.
Audrey: Well, that's good, isn't it?
Jim: Behind my back, Audrey.
Audrey: Okay, you're right.
Jim: Thank you.
Audrey: And maybe Georgie is also a little bit right.
Jim: Maybe. But I'm more right.
Audrey: You sure are, honey.
Jim: I know what you're doing.
Audrey: Of course you do, 'cause you're so smart.
Jim: Thank you.

Quote from Connor

Georgie: Mr. McAllister, I was hoping maybe we could talk.
Mandy: I'm gonna help Mom with dinner. Connor why don't you come with me.
Connor: Okay. [to Georgie and Jim] Try and speak up so I can hear from the kitchen.

Quote from Connor

Jim: Something you wanted to say?
Georgie: I shouldn't have ordered those tires without your permission.
Jim: Appreciate that. And I maybe shouldn't have fired you.
Georgie: You didn't fire me, I quit. But that don't matter.
Jim: So you saying you want to come back to work?
Georgie: You saying you want me to come back?
Jim: No. But if you want to come back, door's open.
Connor: [o.s.] The door's what?
Jim: Door's open!
Connor: [o.s.] Thank you.
